What a month we had in June!

It’s not very often we can say we’ve laid a 2,600 metres of resin surface dressing in one job! But this month we can … and what a result!
Recent Resin Surfacing Projects

Other jobs included 120 metres of resin bound paving to access roads and shared driveways for Davidson Homes and a resin bound Dementia Garden at the Evington Centre, Leicester General Hospital.

Get Doncaster Cycling and Decra®Flex Cycle Lanes

Resin Bound Garden, Evington Centre, Leicester

The Get Doncaster Cycling Strategy was first adopted by Doncaster Council in 2013, which resulted in considerable investment in the cycling infrastructure, support and events across the Borough. This work was a great foundation and was used to create a new Strategy in 2019. The main objective was to continue to grow the assets that will make Doncaster an ideal place for cycling, whether it’s for work, recreation or sport.

As part of the new Strategy, Doncaster Council wanted to extend its cycling lanes in Edlington and HMS was employed by the main contractor, Derek Lewis, to install surface dressing.

Decra®Flex was the surfacing of choice as it killed two birds with one stone! Not only does it meet sustainability KPIs through its flexible, porous and recycled rubber properties, but it also provides smooth, low maintenance and flexible surface, making it the perfect choice for cycle lanes, footpaths and bridleways.

Using rubber from recycled tires means the paving will always contain black, but Doncaster Council chose to include a gold element to the finish with a 50:50 mix of recycled rubber and Cornflint aggregate … we think this really made it pop!

Dementia Garden, Evington Centre, Leicester General Hospital

Resin Bound Garden, Evington Centre, Leicester

The Evington Centre at Leicester General Hospital has two inpatient wards looking after people of all ages with advanced dementia. The predominant age is of people who are in the latter stages of their life who found real enjoyment in tending their gardens.

The carers at the Evington Centre use reminiscence in their theory activities and their gardens play a crucial role in this. They are safe spaces for pottering, socialising with friends and family or simply a space where patients can sit with a cuppa and listen to the birds.

The Evington Centre has been looking to create a dementia-friendly garden and as part of this HMS was approached by Brown and Shaw to lay resin bound paving. And resin bound surfacing is a perfect choice. Not only does it create a smooth, trip-resistant surface, its porous, hard-wearing and low maintenance qualities ensure no standing water with little maintenance and guarantee to look great for years to come.

Davidson Homes, Bowden View, Market Harborough

Resin Bound Access Roads, New Housing Development, Market Harborough

Davidson Homes is in the early phase of construction at the Bowden View Site in Market Harborough. Nevertheless, the show homes are coming together pretty quickly.

Davidson Homes specified resin bound paving as part of the planning process due to its hard-wearing, low maintenance and porous features … and let’s not forget its aesthetics as it will continue to look great for many years from now.

HMS was approached by Coalville Surfacing to surface dress the show home access roads and shared driveways. We laid approximately 120 metres of resin bound surfacing in Golden Gravel and I think we can all agree, that it looks great!
