The first quarter of the year has been nothing short of productive, with progress continuing despite challenging weather conditions. From collaborating with contractors on major regeneration schemes to delivering projects in schools, local councils and housing developments, we’ve already achieved a great deal.
And with several exciting projects lined up, there’s plenty more to look forward to in the months ahead.
This article offers a brief overview of projects completed in the first quarter and highlights exciting new opportunities in the pipeline.
Waltham Cross, Broxbourne, Hertfordshire
Danaher & Walsh appointed us in November to lay 62 linear metres of resin bound paving for Waltham Cross’s ‘rain gardens’ as part of the town’s Sustainable Urban Drainage System – a key element of the environmental improvements underway. In January, we returned to install raised resin bound tree pits to complete the project.
Resin bound paving isn’t just about appearance; it can also play a vital role in flood prevention. Smart, technical and built to last!
Leckhampton, Cheltenham, Gloucestershire
Norton Construction commissioned us to install cold high friction surfacing in green and buff colours to create new cycle lanes in the area.
By enhancing skid resistance and durability, along with colour differentiation to raise awareness of cyclists among vehicle users, this project has helped develop a safer, more accessible route to Cheltenham city centre.
Winter Road Maintenance, Leicester City Centre
As part of Leicester City Council’s winter road maintenance, HMS found themselves working nights to repair cracks, joints and potholes using our specialist overbranding methods. We applied durable material over the areas to create a seamless and protective layer, preventing further road deterioration – saving the council money on resurfacing and extending the road surface life by up to 10 years.
Leicestershire County Council Footway Contract
Allroads Asphalt Solutions appointed us to install Decra®Flex rubber and aggregate tree pits at The Oval in Oadby as part of the Leicestershire County Council’s Footway contract.
This flexible surfacing solution blends with the surrounding tarmac and allows air and water to circulate to tree roots – a much better solution than traditional tree pits that collect rubbish, pose trip hazards and are inaccessible to wheelchair or pushchair users.

Bovis Homes Swansley Park Housing Development
Carmac appointed us to lay resin bound paving in Barley Butter for the public open space footpaths throughout the project. To find the perfect colour, we colour matched to the specified shade, achieving a clean, high-quality finish that complements the development.
Award-Winning Work in Oxford
At the beginning of this year, we discovered that we played an important role in Oxford City Council winning the Oxford Preservation Trust Award for the redevelopment of Market Street.
As part of this redevelopment, we installed 700m² of high friction surfacing to create a safer, more attractive pedestrian space that complements the city’s historic charm. The upgraded street is now bustling with visitors and residents, demonstrating the impact of thoughtful public realm design.
Evington Valley Primary School, Leicester
We were asked by Evington Valley Primary School to lay a beautiful resin bound surface in Amber Gold to the school courtyard. The seamless finish looks fantastic, but also helps prevent trips and falls, creating a safer space for children to play.
Additionally, with resin bound’s porous qualities, rainwater drains naturally back into the ground, preventing surface water buildup, so children can get outside to play soon after a rain shower without getting soaked. A practical and durable upgrade for plenty of playground fun!
Lake Y, South Yorkshire
Derek Lews appointed us to install resin bonded paving on footpaths and surrounding areas of Lake Y in South Yorkshire, which are being extended for 2026.
The new surface offers a durable, low-maintenance finish that enhances accessibility and appearance, creating safe, attractive walkways for visitors that blend with the natural environment.
Tree pits in Leicester City Centre
As part of our decorative surfacing contract with Leicester City Council, the end of February saw us reinstate nine tree pits to enhance durability and design across some of the city’s busiest streets.
From Melton Road, where we laid stunning golden amber tree pits, to the areas surrounding the clock tower, Gallowtree Gate and Horsefair Street, which were finished in the beautiful salmon pink to complement the natural porphyry stone found throughout Leicester’s historic architecture.
Installed at a depth of 50mm for strength, longevity and a seamless finish, these upgrades not only protect tree roots but also elevate the city centre.
Former Ripley Branch Line Regeneration
March has seen us continue our work on the former Midlands Railway Ripley Branch Line, transforming it into a Greenway for the local community and visitors to enjoy.
In total, we will install 5.6km of Decra®Flex rubber and aggregate surfacing to make the Greenway accessible to walkers, cyclists, runners and horse riders.
Set to open in the summer of 2026, we look forward to the public using it.
Canterbury’s Story Gardens
In March, we were awarded the decorative surfacing contract by Blakedown Landscapes to lay 6,000 m² of resin bonded paving in Britteny Bronze for paths and walkways around the gardens. This colour has been approved by English Heritage and will complement Canterbury’s historic buildings and the garden’s natural surroundings.
We’re excited to support the regeneration of Canterbury, which will revive these beautiful spaces for the local community and visitors, celebrating the city’s rich heritage and culture.
Roseland Park Crematorium, Mansfield
We’re excited to announce that Dragonfly Developments (Bolsover District Council’s development company) and DJ Newberry Construction have appointed us to install 2,500m² of high-quality resin bound and bonded paving on footpaths, courtyards and peaceful garden areas for visitors to the Crematorium.
Work is set to begin in April 2026, and the site hopes to be open to visitors in summer 2026. Follow our socials for updates on this project’s progress.
Overall, it’s been a busy and productive start to the year. Despite challenging weather conditions, our momentum hasn’t slowed, and we’ve continued to deliver for our customers without disruption.
