Roundup – Projects we completed in May

We had another busy month in May, which saw us being a part of some exciting projects. From new housing developments overlooking the Blenheim Estate and Wembley Stadium to cycling schemes and assisted living projects.
Resin Bound & Bonded Surfacing Projects

New housing development with M&J Evans Construction & Ground Works for Pye Homes

Park View is a new housing development that extends the already bustling town of Woodstock in Oxfordshire. Overlooking Blenheim Estate, Park View gives residents access to 12,000 acres of the Estate and as such, wildlife is encouraged. The new development is also required to blend with the existing environment and community, which is why there has been the opening of permissive paths as well as improving and adding new walking and cycle lanes.

We were appointed by M&J Evans Construction and Groundworks to lay approximately 900m2 of resin bound paving to the public open space (POS) footpaths. With the consideration for wildlife and the community, resin bound paving seemed the most obvious choice.

Housing Development - Resin Bound Surfacing

Its hard-wearing, low maintenance and porous qualities certify it a SuDS (Sustainable Urban Drainage System) compliant paving solution. Not only does it reduce the risk of flooding, but it filters water and therefore, reduces pollutants entering our streams, rivers and lakes.

The aggregate chosen was Spring Walk, which complements the Cotswold natural stone, used for many of the houses used in the development and for other houses in the area. I think we can all agree that the team did a great job!

Get Doncaster Cycling Scheme with Derek Lewis on behalf of Doncaster Council

As part of the Get Doncaster Cycling Scheme, Doncaster Council wanted to extend their cycle lanes in Edlington. HMS was appointed by Derek Lewis to lay around 3,600 metres of Decra®Flex rubber-stone, porous resin surfacing to rural routes.

With sustainability being high on the agenda for many councils, our Decra®Flex surfacing fits the bill. It’s a flexible porous aggregate and recycled rubber paving manufactured especially for rural paths, cycle routes and bridleways.

This is an ongoing project, but we know it’s going to look spectacular, especially with Doncaster Council choosing to mix the rubber crumb with a Cornflint aggregate to add a gold speckle to the finish.

Birchgrove Assisted Living for DX Developments

Birchgrove is launching brand-new, purpose-built facilities for assisted living communities in Kingston-upon-Thames and HMS was asked to lay resin bonded surfacing to its garden footpaths and main driveway!

We laid approximately 450m of resin bonded paving in Amber Gold. Not only does it look great, but this low maintenance and durable surfacing is also slip-resistant and removes trip hazards for guests and visitors alike!

New housing development high friction surfacing to a roundabout runoff

Griptrak appointed us to lay around 277m of Natural Red high friction surfacing to the roundabout run-off area for a Jelson Homes development in Barrow upon Soar.

With high friction surfacing being without doubt one of the most effective ways to manage road safety, Jelson Homes wanted to install it to ensure the safety of road users around its development. Laying high friction surfacing increases tyre grip and reduces braking distances, especially in wet conditions.

Redevelopment housing project in South West Lands, Wembley

South West Lands Development, Wembley

The South West Lands plot is adjacent to Wembley Stadium and forms part of the regeneration project for the area.

For the first phase of three, HMS was appointed by CIK Construction on behalf of McAleer & Rushe to lay resin bound surfacing to the eighth-floor roof garden. Installed using Golden Gravel, this resin bound porous paving really compliments this prestigious housing development project.
