February can sometimes be a tricky month as it can be a sign that spring is finally on the way, or it can be 6 inches deep in snow and reminiscent of Siberia – one week to the next!
Luckily, we don’t seem to have been too badly affected by extreme weather conditions this winter (as yet!) and as a result February at HMS has been a busy mix of almost all the types of work we undertake. Some project examples this month include: Keep reading February Roundup 2022 to find out what projects we worked on.
High Friction Surfacing – Tameside MBC
HMS returned to Greater Manchester earlier this month to complete further works as part of our long-standing term maintenance contract arrangement with Tameside Metropolitan Borough Council.
High friction surfacing combines specialist road grade binders and super strong calcined bauxite aggregates to form an ultra-slip resistant surface on the highway – this helps reduce braking distances, excess skidding, and also offers a visual warning to road users by way of colour change.
Works have been completed on various sites in the Aston Under Lyne area on this visit.
Leicester City Council – Flexi-Joint Highway Repairs
Combining bitumen binders, high PSV aggregates, recycled glass, and reinforcing fibres, our specialist joint, and patch repair product is the cost-effective approach to improving the quality of the carriageway without costly and disruptive resurfacing programmes.
Used for repairing various degrees of damage from hairline cracking and fretting, through to full depth, concrete jointing, and potholes, our repair material is hot-applied, cures in minutes, and does not require extensive traffic management. With results lasting years, and at a fraction of the cost of replacement, HMS Flexi-Range is the obvious choice for local authorities nationwide.
Carmac – Bovis Homes Biddenham
Off the highway, HMS has completed two mid-sized projects for Carmac on behalf of Bovis Homes at Biddenham near Milton Keynes this month. Using a Cappuccino blend, we have installed around 850m of 20mm porous resin bound paving to shared and private drives on this large development site. Resin bound paving gives a fully porous, modern, smooth and completely encapsulated finish, which is great for both vehicle use and recreational areas. With zero stone migration and available in an unlimited number of colour blends, our Decra-Set porous paving is the SUDS compliant route to impressive hard landscaping.
