Another busy month during May!

May has been another month packed full of exciting and challenging projects – no rest for the wicked!
Resin Bound Paving - May

This month has had it all from luxury homebuilders and developers to working with Galliford Try and Severn Trent to install SuDS-compliant paving to help assist with flood prevention.

In this week’s article, thanks to the improving weather, we will shed some more light on the projects we have worked on over the past month – enjoy!

Rain Garden, Mansfield

Resin bound rain gardens in Mansfield

We begin with a Rain Garden in Mansfield, where HMS was called in to work alongside Mansfield District Council and Galliford Try to install SuDS-compliant (sustainable urban drainage system) paving on behalf of Severn Trent Water. This is the first phase of the redevelopment of a former car park into a stunning memorial garden just off Queen Street.

Phase one began with our SuDS-compliant resin bound permeable paving being applied to water inlets to help aid water drainage to ensure surrounding soft landscaping and topsoil are not washed away during heavy rainfall.

The beauty of this type of paving, especially for this project, alongside providing a premium quality finish, is that it has seamlessly become part of the technical construction!

Hurst Homes/Wibb Builders, Derbyshire

Hurst Homes Resin Bound Paving

Our first Hurst Homes project in May was in Derbyshire. This brand-new housing development was reaching its latter stages – the perfect time for HMS to come in and apply the finishing touches to its external areas! All the paving that we installed here was resin bound, leaving the clients with a low-maintenance, porous finished product. Due to the new builds having variations on the windows used for each house, we completed half of the works in a Natural Buff and the other half were completed in Ocean Blue – really amplifying a sense of individulaity!

Staying in Derbyshire (and with Hurst Homes!) we also took a visit to another luxury project seeking our help to apply the finishing touches.  Again, the client was looking for a premium finish that was low maintenance, slip resistant and long-lasting … in other words, resin bound! Here the client opted for a Mocha finish, and we happily obliged – we often work with luxury housing developers to provide premium finishes to driveways and gardens, and this project was no exception!

Our last Hurst Homes project in May featured a resin bound installation completed in Natural Buff. Similarly, to the previous Hurst Homes projects, only a high-quality finish and comprehensively functional paving was desired – music to our ears! The endless choice of colours and finishers that we can provide at HMS allows us to provide solutions for homebuilders and house owners alike when deciding upon a paving option for any project that may come our way!

J7 off Coventry Ringroad

Resin Bound Paving - J7 off the ring road in Coventry

To round off the month, we paid a visit to Coventry, where we were appointed by Phoenix Surfacing to install resin bound surfacing to provide more direct walking and cycle routes for pedestrians. This project formed part of Coventry City Council’s local Air Quality Action Plan where we installed resin bound paving in Dorset Gold paired with a Lucerne Silver to give it a quite striking look, whilst still being practical for use.

The project resides under the ring road at Junction 7 in Coventry – if you find yourself in the local area be sure to check it out, but we will be sure to share the finished project with you across our social media platforms in the next coming weeks!

The aim of the local Air Quality Action Plan is to reduce roadside pollution levels across all facets, from noise pollution to air pollution! Feel free to have a look on their website to find out more details of all the good work they are undertaking, and how it could help with your daily commute!

All in all, it has been another packed month for the entire HMS team! With resin bound projects being at the forefront of our agenda again this month, it comes as no surprise to us that this type of paving is becoming more and more popular amongst individual buyers and housing developers! It allows you to achieve a visually striking, durable, and low-maintenance surface that enhances the overall aesthetic and functionality of your outdoor space – so, why wait? Contact us today!
