The first half of 2026 has been another busy and rewarding period for the HMS team. From highways and housing developments to schools, parks and public spaces, we’ve continued to deliver specialist surfacing solutions for contractors, developers and local authorities across the UK.

Highlights from the first half of 2026
Highways and public realm
The year began with the installation of Green Cold High Friction Surfacing for Norcon Construction at Leckhampton, creating new cycle lanes designed to improve grip and clearly define cycling infrastructure. The cold-applied system provided a durable, high-performance finish while minimising disruption during installation.
Working with Allroads Surfacing Solutions, we then installed Decra®Flex tree pits for Leicestershire County Council at The Oval, Oadby.
We also reinstated nine tree pits across Leicester city centre using Golden Amber and Salmon Pink finishes to complement the city’s natural porphyry paving, alongside carrying out road repair and overbanding works to help extend the life of Leicester’s highways.
In collaboration with FM Conway, our team installed Traffic Red High Friction Surfacing pads at key junctions near schools in Kingston and Richmond. Providing enhanced skid resistance where drivers need maximum grip, these installations help improve safety for parents, children, cyclists and motorists during the busy school run and beyond.
Housing developments
Our teams have continued to support major residential developments across the Midlands.
Projects included resin bound paving at Swansley Park for Carmac and Bovis Homes, together with resin bonded footpaths for Lagan Homes’ development in Coventry, creating attractive pedestrian routes that connect homes with public open spaces.
We also completed resin bonded paving to footpaths at a major housing development in Towcester. Installed to connect public open spaces and residential areas, the decorative surfacing provides durable, low-maintenance pedestrian routes that enhance the development while complementing the surrounding landscape.
Education and community spaces
We installed Golden Amber resin bound surfacing at Evington Valley Primary School in Leicester, while our collaboration with Rise Contracts Ltd delivered colourful EPDM Wet Pour Safety Surfacing at the Quentin Blake Centre for Illustration in London.
Leisure & visitor attractions
Working alongside Derek Lewis, we helped expand the facilities at Lake Y by installing resin bonded paving in leisure areas and footpaths, improving accessibility while complementing the natural surroundings.
Progress continues on the Ripley Branch Line Greenway, where Decra®Flex surfacing is transforming a former railway into a high-quality, accessible leisure route for the local community.
Heritage & public realm
One of our standout projects this year has been the installation of approximately 6,000m² of resin bonded paving at the Story Gardens and City Wall in Canterbury.
Working alongside Blakedown Landscapes, English Heritage approved the use of the Brittany Bronze aggregate to ensure the finished surface complements Canterbury’s historic buildings and landscape.
Peaceful outdoor spaces
At Roseland Park Crematorium for Bolsover District Council, we completed approximately 2,500m² of resin bound and resin bonded paving, creating attractive footpaths, courtyards and garden areas designed to provide a welcoming environment for visitors.
