2025 mid-year review: Delivering resin surfacing solutions

The past six months have seen us install high-quality resin surfacing solutions across the UK.
Chatsworth House, Derbyshire

From enhancing public spaces and towpaths to supporting urban greening and school access schemes, resin bound and bonded, high friction surfacing and flexible surfacing systems are helping to create safer, more sustainable and visually appealing environments.

Here’s our top picks from 2025, so far:

Sustainable surfacing for former railway line in Derbyshire

One of the standout resin-based installations this year was the part-transformation of a former railway line in Derbyshire into a new, multi-use greenway, with the second visit due this month (July 2025). The path was surfaced with a flexible resin bound 50:50 rubber and aggregate system, offering excellent permeability, durability and comfort underfoot. Ideal for horseriders, cyclists and pedestrians, this eco-friendly solution celebrates the site’s history while delivering a low-maintenance, long-lasting surface fit for modern use.

Enhancing towpaths with resin-based upgrades

Resin-based surfacing has played a key role in the recent towpath improvements along the Enfield Towpath. This popular leisure route required a surface that could handle high footfall, provide some slip resistance and integrate well with natural surroundings. High friction surfacing in buff was the selected resin-based surfacing used, and it delivered all three, providing an aesthetically sympathetic yet high-performance upgrade for cyclists and pedestrians.

Preserving historic homes, including Chatsworth House

We’re proud to contribute to the conservation and improvement of nationally significant heritage sites. Resin bonded surfacing installation at Chatsworth House was sensitively undertaken to respect its historic status while providing vital infrastructure and access upgrades to support visitor experience and long-term resilience.

Tree pits and urban landscaping in London

In urban settings like London’s high streets, we’ve installed resin bound tree pits to support sustainable drainage and root protection. These installations form part of broader street improvements that include new surfacing for shop frontages. Resin bound’s porous qualities allow for effective water infiltration, while its neat appearance enhances the public appearance and helps prevent trip hazards.

High friction resin Systems for road safety

We’ve also delivered several high friction surfacing schemes using specialist resin-based materials. These are designed to improve grip and reduce braking distances at accident-prone locations, particularly around junctions, sharp bends and near schools. These safety-critical applications demonstrate the versatility of resin solutions in both public parks, hard landscaped areas and highway settings.

Creating safer, smarter school environments

This year, numerous school access and infrastructure projects have incorporated resin bound surfacing to enhance safety, accessibility, and visual appeal. From footpaths and pedestrian zones to drop-off points and crossings, resin systems offer a seamless, slip-resistant finish ideal for high-traffic areas around educational settings.

Resin surfacing’s durability and low-maintenance qualities make it particularly well-suited toresin-b school environments, where safety and longevity are key. The smooth, even surface reduces trip hazards and supports inclusive access for pupils, parents and staff – whether walking, pushing prams or using wheelchairs.

In addition to its practical benefits, resin surfacing contributes to a welcoming and well-maintained school frontage for positive first impressions and reinforcing the importance of safe, accessible design for all.

High-quality surfacing for housing developments

In the first half of the year, we’ve delivered a wide range of surfacing solutions for housing developers, including resin bound and bonded paving and high friction surfacing, helping to unlock new homes across the UK through efficient, high-quality anti-skid surfacing installation. Our high friction surfacing spans both Section 38 (S38) and Section 278 (S278) schemes, ensuring that new developments are seamlessly and safely integrated into the local highway network.

Our durable and visually appealing surfacing materials support housing developers in creating attractive, low-maintenance roads, footpaths, SuDS-compliant shared spaces and country parks that meet adoptable standards and enhance the public realm. From first impressions at site entrances to lasting performance on estate roads, our surfacing work plays a critical role in:

  • Access roads, POS footpaths and country parks
  • Driveways, shared spaces and parking
  • Adoptable highway connections (S38)
  • Off-site junction improvements and visibility splays (S278)

Strengthening local partnerships

We’re proud to have secured a new contract with Leicester City Council, supporting the city’s ambitions for safer, aesthetically pleasing and more resilient surfacing. The multi-year agreement covers a wide range of highways and public realm works – from footway and carriageway resurfacing to urban regeneration, drainage and accessibility improvements. Our collaborative approach and proven track record in both delivery and stakeholder engagement make us a trusted partner for helping cities meet their evolving transport and environmental goals.

A surface for every setting

From rural pathways to city centres, our work over the last six months highlights the flexibility and value of resin-based surfacing. Whether used for functional safety, sustainable water management, or placemaking in public spaces, resin continues to prove its worth as a modern surfacing solution with long-term performance and environmental benefits.
