“… fantastic communal gardens, and a stunning car park and cycle lane combination.”
The Brief
Killingley’s, a commercial landscaping contractor based in Chesterfield, appointed HMS to lay specialist porous resin bound paving to a newly completed luxury apartment complex, Victoria Point, in Ashford, Kent.
- Circa 1,000m2
- Steel grey and golden amber aggregate
- Right-of-way cycle lane
- Car park demarcation
- Courtyard areas and footpaths in communal gardens
The Project
Prior to installation, the area needed to be fully swept and cleared of any vegetation, leaves and other rubbish to ensure the resin bound paving system, once laid, didn’t fail. As the existing car park was in situ for approximately two years and in full use by the residents of Victoria Point, this was a necessity.
On top of this, there was also the need to complete a small amount of tarmac repairs before the installation could begin.
As the site was no longer in construction, HMS also facilitated the car park closure and traffic management, site cabins and mobilization equipment, with support from the building management.
We were on-site for two weeks during which time we rearranged resident parking, placed cabin on-site by craning it in, and accepted two full artic lorries on a busy residential street.
We communicated with the client throughout the duration of the project, ensuring they were kept up-to-date on progress and the finer day-to-day details were managed between ourselves and the building management.
The Result
In total, we laid 36 tonnes of aggregate and used 340 resin kits to deliver beautiful communal gardens that will continue to look great for years to come.
The cycle lane and car park demarcation look stunning with the contrast of the steel grey and golden amber aggregate.
“What’s key from a resin paving contractor, is the communication, efficiency, the workmanship and how the site is left once the job is done. HMS kept us informed at every stage of the project, which enabled us to communicate with the residents and arrange alternative parking.
“Their efficiency and workmanship ensured the job was completed in a timely manner and the team left the site clean and tidy … with fantastic communal gardens, and a stunning car park and cycle lane combination.”

If you’re looking for a stunning surface to compliment your project, then resin bound is for you. Its porous qualities ensure there’s no standing water, reduce surface water run-off and flooding, and is not susceptible to mould and mildew build-up.
On top of this, it’s as strong as concrete and tarmac, slip resistant, but with a smooth finish, and has very little weed growth, meaning it is low maintenance and promises to continue to look great for years to come!
