November Roundup 2021

Its fair to say that winter is well and truly upon us here at HMS, and with lower temperatures, dark days, and the odd snow shower our works programme has to be flexible to accommodate. Read what projects we worked on in our November Roundup 2021.

Lots of our decorative products are sensitive to weather and moisture, so to ensure we achieve the best results for our clients, we try to focus on the more weather tolerant processes through winter such as hot high friction surfacing, imprinted paving, a wide range of asphaltic road repairs and also our playground Wet Pour which doesn’t mind getting wet!

Taylor Wimpey, Bletchley – Griptrak

This will likely be one of the last large decorative projects completed before Christmas, but a mild spell allowed us to complete over 700m of resin bonded Decra®Stone surface dressing to a community footpath in Milton Keynes.

As the original tarmac was mostly existing, the area first required scabbling with our Von Arx mini scabbler to take out any minor surface undulations, followed by an epoxy-based scratch and sand coat to regulate the open texture and produce a firm key for our product.

Once preparation was complete, resin bonded gravel surfacing dressed off with our ever-popular 2-4mm Amber Gold surface dressing was applied to the surface.

Amber Gold is one of our most popular natural aggregate colours. Quarried in the UK and offering a soft neutral golden tone, it’s easy to see why it outsells all other colours by a considerable margin. Approved by local authorities, national home builders, and English Heritage, it’s the obvious choice for fast and effective surface improvement with added slip resistance. Leicester City Highways – Specialist Patching and Joint Sealing

We’re all probably too familiar with the effects of potholes, degraded road surfaces and the absolute chaos that even small-scale road works can cause, especially in busy locations such as the city centre.

At HMS we have the perfect solution for both the local authority and the road user – maintenance free road repairs that don’t cost the earth, last for years, and doesn’t require road closures or lengthy disruptions to traffic networks to install.

Our Decra®Flex specialist fibre reinforced bitumen jointing and patch repair compound is the ideal solution for cracking, fretting, potholes and general damage/wear and tear. Our hot applied material contains PSV 70+ bauxite aggregates making it suitable for all road types, and can be used on tarmac, concrete and footpath construction.

Easy to install, our crews generally recommend night working for minimal disruption and maximum output, whilst operating our own rolling traffic management throughout. Effectively reversing the damage caused by heavy trafficking, weather and wear and tear, our flexi-range preserves road surfaces, mitigating the requirement for extensive and costly resurfacing. Suitable for everything from hairline cracking, concrete joint sealing through to large and deep pot holes, Decra®Flex is the one-stop shop for cost effective asphaltic and concrete repairs. Available using a HAPAS/BBA approved material.
