10 Leading Surfacing Contractor Facts

10 facts about HMS that makes us one of the leading surfacing contractors. We design, consult, project manage & install to always meet customer expectations.

At Number 10

This is the number of specialist plant vehicles in our fleet. Decorative surfacing on a smaller scale can certainly be carried out without the need for lots of specialist equipment. However as a surfacing contractor, we work regularly on commercial sized schemes and our utility vehicles perfectly support our work. They are an integral part of our quality installation. With mixers, compressors, generators and even 1,000 litre sized electric blankets to keep our product warm in winter months, we’re good to go!

Number 9

Is the amount of City and Guilds, NVQ qualified supervisors we employ as a leading surfacing contractor to directly head up teams working up and down the country every day, for Local Authorities, Main Contractors, House Builders, Developers and private clients.

Number 8

Is the number of office, administration and technical staff available to respond to enquiries, and generally provide all the information you need to specify, order and install all of our products.

Number 7

Is the number of days a week our installation crews are available for work. 24 hours a day too. Because we appreciate that highway works in a city centre sometimes just has to be 3am on a Sunday! It’s also the opening hours for our online Showroom and Trade Counter, for all your material requirements.

Number 6

Is the number of products in our range; Resin Bonded Decra®Stone Surfacing, Resin Bound Decra®Set Paving including Arboricultural Surfacing, All types of HAPAS/BBA approved High Friction Surfacing, Coloured Surfacing, Thermoplastic Imprinted Paving, and our large range of Flexi® asphaltic overbanding, jointing and road repair systems.

Number 5

Most people would say 3… but at HMS 5 really is the magic number. 5 degrees centigrade to be precise! 5c is the minimum temperature for successful application of ANY cold applied, moisture curing resin system. Lower than 5c and you run the risk of encountering issues with your finished product, so always ensure the weather forecast is suitable before you start!

Number 4

Is the amount of 25kg bags of aggregate needed per kit of resin when installing a Decra®Set resin bound paving system. Recipes vary within the industry, but as a leading surfacing contractor, we can assure you ours have been fully tested for strength, durability and that all important SUDS compliancy. While we’re talking numbers, did you know that our SUDS compliant material can drain up to 80,000 litres of water per hour, per m²!!

Number 3

Is the optimum recommended number of operatives needed to successfully install the vast majority of our surfacing systems. Never try to install resin systems without enough support, as this may have a detrimental impact on your finished product!

Number 2

Is the amount of resin components in both our Decra®Set Resin Bound and Decra®Stone Resin bonded surfacing systems. For both the epoxy and polyurethane systems, a ‘Part A and Part B’ are supplied. Once A & B are mixed together the product is ready to use, and any unmixed product will keep safely for at least 12 months!

And finally Number 1

Is the number of surfacing contractors you will need to speak to in order to design, specify, order and install a wide range of decorative and resin based products from conception to completion.
