Blakedown Landscapes/The Royal Parks – The Round Pond, Kensington Gardens – October 2014
HMS was contacted by LDA Design regarding a product recommendation for resurfacing of The Round Pond in Kensington Gardens, one of the eight Royal Parks within the City of London. The brief was to supply something that could stand up to regular maintenance, heavy pedestrian traffic, and also look aesthetically pleasing, whilst in keeping with the historic nature of the site. Dating back to 1730, The Round Pond has seen a recent facelift, including approximately 5,300 square meters of new surfacing flanking the pond’s circumference and paths leading to The Broad Walk. The project was finished in a 2-4mm Amber Gold natural aggregate, and took just under twelve working days to complete. Sections of the footpath were closed off for installation, whilst the remainder of the area was kept fully accessible, aiming to cause minimum disruption to the many visitors who use the Park each day.
