New Products from HMS this Summer 2017…

Posted on

We’ve been busy working on an expansion of a number of our product ranges, and have finally reached the point where we can introduce these new additions to our customers…

HAPAS/BBA Approved MMA Surfacing…

With view to expanding our established range of HAPAS/BBA Approved Type 1 High Friction Surfacing products, we have been investigating bringing on board an MMA product to offer to our customers, both new and existing. After a great deal of market research, we are currently moving forward with one of the industry’s favourite manufacturers, with view to being able to offer a BBA approved product to our clients within a matter of weeks.

Pricing of MMA schemes are well underway, and we would be very happy to receive your upcoming tender/project documents in order to give you our very best rates.

HAPAS/BBA Approved Resin Bound Paving…

When buying with confidence is key to successful procurement, what better way than to purchase products and materials assured by the number one industry standard. Our new HAPAS/BBA approved resin systems offer the exact same quality and longevity as our non-certificated product, with the added benefit of being supported by the BBA. This may be particularly useful on high level/high value schemes where a benchmark of indisputable quality and suitability would aid the procurement process, and reduce the risk of deviation from the original specification.

For more information on any of our new or existing products, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Product Focus: Decra®Set Resin Bound Paving

Warmer weather means optimum laying conditions for our Decra®Set Resin Bound Paving. Although we work year-round at HMS, the summer months lend themselves perfectly to the more rain and temperature-sensitive resin systems. The longer daylight hours allows a longer working day, resulting in much larger areas being completed without the occurrence of day-joints.

One of our first domestic driveways completed as part of our summer programme was this beautiful private property outside Birmingham. HMS put together a package of works for the client to include all the preparatory groundworks, new tarmac and setts, completed by RW Services (www.rwservices.com)

Our client chose a 6mm Sandy Gold aggregate finish laid to a thickness of 18mm, to compliment their existing brickwork and surrounding areas, off-set by newly laid sandstone setts to the boundary. This scheme included over 200m² being laid in a single shift with no joints in the material and the client was able to return their driveway to normal use within 24 hours.

Our Decra®Set is the perfect choice if you require a porous, SUDS compliant surface finish with the added benefit of being very low maintenance and having zero stone migration. With a massive range of colours and finishes to choose from, we have something to compliment a variety of projects.

It’s Another Bank Holiday Weekend…!

So we’re heading into another long bank holiday weekend…

as it’s nearly May and summer is [ahem]…around the corner, how many of us will be having a bit of a garden sort-out this weekend? Getting the mower out… tidying those borders… and possibly thinking ‘how scruffy is our driveway??!!’ or ‘what were we thinking having that block paving’… well maybe anyway.

Our Decra®Stone is a brilliant budget option to totally transform your existing drive or patio without the need to turn your home into a building site. Our product can be laid and ready for use in less than 24-hours and comes in a massive range of colours and finishes. We can pop it straight over your existing tarmac or concrete driveway, and if you do need a little preparatory work, we can help you sort that out too!

We have some great literature available on our decorative products, and a whole range of samples that we can send out to you free of charge so you can really get a feel for the choices on offer.

We also offer a completely free, no obligation visit to your home or project to help you make the right choice, and answer any questions you might have, face to face.

As always, we’re ISO 9001 Quality Assured, CHAS and Constructionline accredited, and fully insured.

A Quick Update on our March Schemes…

Posted on

Following on from February’s blog post, we have since completed on the Spire Hospital Scheme, and London Wall is well under way.

Spire Hospital in Tollerton on behalf of Breedon finished right on time, and looks fantastic. The bespoke aggregate blend has been very well received, and once all the planting is complete, the Decra®Set pathways are going to be a real feature.

Our resin bound paving is a great choice for areas used by people with assisted mobility requirements, on account of the surfacing having zero aggregate migration, yet still being solidly non-slip under foot. Exceptionally durable, the pathways will require little to no maintenance throughout its life, which we would expect to be in excess of 20 years.

Great New Projects at HMS this Spring…

Posted on

With spring approaching we at HMS are looking forward to defrosting our decorative trowels, with some great schemes in the pipeline for the coming months:

Spire Hospital, Nottingham

We’re embarking this week at the brand new Spire Hospital site just outside Nottingham on behalf of Breedon & Morgan Sindall where we are installing over 600m² of Decra®Set resin bound paving to a large expanse of footpaths, which form part of a tranquil garden to the rear of this ultra-modern private medical facility. The chosen colour is a bespoke mix, specially blended for this particular scheme, and we are very excited to see the finished results!

London Wall, EC2Y

We’re keeping with the resin bound paving theme, by moving on to a very prestigious scheme at London Wall in Central London, on behalf of client Wilson & Scott Highways & William Hare. This project has been a long time in the making, due to its intricate design and prominent location. HMS will be solely responsible for over 1,000m² of bespoke designed Decra®Flex paving – a specially designed variation of our classic Decra®Set, engineered to perform on steel and suspended structures – to a suspended footbridge high up above the city, creating a spectacular vantage point coupled with cutting edge design.
Keep an eye on our blog page in the coming months for updates and photos on both exciting projects.

Other News…

Towards the end of January we had another excellent weekend at the National Self Build and Renovations Centre, generating our most enquires to date. We spoke to many people over the three-day event, discussing lots of different types of self-build schemes, at varying stages of their creation. With porosity and SUDS compliancy being high on the list of required attributes, our Decra®Range resin bound paving is proving increasingly popular.

Our October Resin Round-Up…

The Big Green Home Show…

Following the success of our June Summer Show at the National Self Build and Renovation Centre in Swindon, we returned between the 7th – 9th October to attend the ‘Big Green Home Show’. With the onus focused on sustainability and environmentally friendly building and construction methods, our Decra®Set Bound Paving proved to be especially popular with a wide variety of visitors to our stand, all at various stages of their redevelopment and new-build schemes. With its SUDS compliant permeability and ultra-modern finish we generated a fantastic number of good quality leads and contacts over the course of the weekend. The NSBRC has an unrivaled amount of products on offer, from fully constructed bespoke built properties to the finer details of finishing, there is something for everyone; open 364 days a year and completely free to enter, it’s well worth a visit – especially to our stand – Number 125!

Recent Projects…

Although the nights are now drawing in, the weather has been maybe unseasonably kind (so far…!) to us at HMS, striving to deliver top-quality resin based projects as we head towards our winter season. Several large-scale schemes have been recently completed including a 2,000+ m² of our Decra®Set Bound Paving at Archdeacon Lane, Leicester, on behalf of Leicester City Council. This scheme has seen a large area of what was essentially waste-ground in a historic part of town overlooked by the Cathedral, transformed into a usable public space including seating, cycle storage and all-important new planting & trees.

Other projects have included a prestigious new-build development in Warwickshire, with in excess of 1,500m² of Decra®Set Bound Paving being laid to the driveway and frontage of a private property, along with several other Decra®Stone sites also being completed for private individuals, commercial customers and Local Authorities alike… lets just hope the frost and snow holds off for a while longer…!

Winter Works Programme…

It may currently be a balmy 17c outside, but even we know that won’t last forever! As the cold weather returns and our roads are battered by rain and freezing temperatures, it’s time to consider protecting and repairing those fretting and cracked areas with our range of Flexi® joint and crack sealing materials. From simple overbanding solutions to full depth repair systems, we have the product to help keep our roads safe and functioning this winter, without the cost and logistic expense of a resurfacing project. With super-competitive pricing, off-peak working and no need for a road closure, our Flexi®Range is a great choice to get those small repairs underway before they develop into a bigger (and more expensive!) issue.
In turn, our Type 1, BBA HAPAS certified anti-skid surfacing is another great way to enhance road safety during the winter months, whether this is approaches to crossings, high risk areas, or simply refreshing bus or cycle lanes, the importance of effective winter maintenance should not be underestimated. Email us, or call our office to discuss your requirements…

HMS Debut at the National Self Build and Renovation Centre (NSBRC)

Posted on

This month marks the opening of our permanent exhibition stand at the National Self Build and Renovation Centre in Swindon, Wiltshire.

This bespoke facility is the UK’s only permanent venue designed specifically to meet the needs of anyone looking to undertake a self build, renovation or home improvement project. The unique home-builder market is a fast-growing element of our business, so we felt that there would be nowhere better to demonstrate our products. Due to the permanent nature of the show, our stand is of significantly better quality than that designed for a temporary, conventional exhibit, and as such professionally showcases the potential and attention to detail that our products and services can offer.

The Centre has 3 full size exhibition houses on permanent display, as well as educational areas featuring an array of displays covering everything from ground works and foundations, to building systems and roof types, plus a full-scale renovation house, that takes visitors through the journey of a major renovation project. Visitors can also join audio tours around our Renovation House, where you will hear some of the main factors and considerations when taking on a renovation project.

HMS will now be represented here with our brand-new purpose built exhibition space, which includes real-scale material samples, specification information, demo videos, and the ability to digitally request literature and further information by simply scanning a bar-code.

The Centre is open 6 days a week and entry is completely free.

Come and visit us at our stand at the Summer Weekend 17th – 19th June 2016!

Due to an ever expanding market, HMS has taken the decision to invest signification time and resource into creating our own brand of resin bound and resin bonded decorative surfacing materials, along with other repair and maintenance products. In line with our newly developed product range, we have secured the coveted intellectual property rights to protect our new branding, ahead of bringing them to market.

After conducting extensive research regarding market demand and consumer confidence, it was decided to create our ‘own brand’ of resin based surface and repair treatments to allow prospective customers to really take advantage of a ‘one-stop-shop’ approach regarding doing business with us. This has subsequently allowed us to develop our ethos for the best quality customer service:

The Round Pond – Kensington Gardens…

Kensington Round Pond (25)Kensington Gardens, once the private gardens of Kensington Palace, are one of the Royal Parks of London, lying immediately to the west of Hyde Park. It is shared between the City of Westminster and the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea, lying within western central London and covers an area of 270 acres. The open spaces of Kensington Gardens, Hyde Park, Green Park and St. James’s Park together form an almost continuous open green space in the otherwise densely populated heart of London between Kensington and Westminster.

Within Kensington Gardens lies The Round Pond, originally commissioned by George II in 1730. The Pond, although not actually round, can be seen directly from Kensington Palace, flanked all around by mature trees, access to other areas and most northerly, the Broadwalk.
