‘Hi-Build’ is deep-textured decorative resin surfacing from HMS, with a natural aggregate finish suitable for traffic calming and other applications on a variety of surfaces.
Hi-Build’ provides an attractive departure from conventional resin surfacing, with the benefit of a natural decorative finish and a distinct rumble when trafficked, improving driver awareness and encouraging slower vehicle speed. Conventional 'highways grade' aggregates for resin system binders are 1-3mm, however on some natural red bus lanes, 2-5mm has been specified.
‘Hi-Build’ is typically 12mm thick when installed using 10mm aggregates which must be dry and dust free when installed. The availability of gradings depend upon the required colour of the aggregate and gradings ranging up 10 and 14mm are more commonly available. It is possible to incorporate 20mm single size aggregates into 'Hi-Build'.
Hi-Build’ uses a three component solvent free urethane binder, comprising a two pack resin with added mineral extenders. Urethanes cure rapidly especially at low temperatures allowing earlier opening of sites to traffic. This is a significant advantage when application is made at night at low temperatures.
