‘Hot Applied Thermoplastic’ High Friction Surfacing is a hot screed hand applied process, comprising a blend of thermoplastic resin binders, pre-mixed with high PSV calcined bauxite aggregate.
This process is an 'all in one micro surfacing' carefully pre-heated on site and manually installed. The heated material is skilfully applied to the substrate using a hot screed in discrete bands which are expertly blended. No sweeping is required and all year round application is the norm, producing an initial minimum Skid Resistance Value (SRV) of 65.
HMS is an Approved Installer (Installer Number 3551) to Type 1 of the Highway Authorities Product Approval Scheme (HAPAS), administered by the British Board Of Agrément on behalf of the Highways Agency for use on all categories of road.
When laid by an Approved Installer for a BBA accredited system, high friction surfacing conforms to Clause 924 of the Specification For Highway Works.
The highest standard in the industry is 'Type 1' accreditation; however there are 'Type 3' and also some non-standard processes available. Please take advice when making product comparisons across the industry.
