‘Cold Applied Resin’ High Friction Surfacing from HMS is a hand applied ‘anti-skid’ surface treatment, comprising extended two component thermosetting resin binder, dressed to excess with high PSV calcined bauxite aggregate. Loose bauxite is swept prior to trafficking, producing an immediate minimum Skid Resistance Value (SRV) of 65.
HMS is an Approved Installer (Installer Number 3551) to Type 1 of the Highway Authorities Product Approval Scheme (HAPAS), administered by the British Board Of Agrément on behalf of the Highways Agency, the Scottish Executive and the Welsh Assembly for use on all categories of road.
When laid by an Approved Installer for a BBA accredited system, high friction surfacing conforms to Clause 924 of the Specification For Highway Works.
The industry standard product is epoxy resin extended with bitumen, however other resin processes are available using polyurethane, acrylic and non-bitumen diluents.
